f. Foster professional role development through leadership, collaborative skills, and relationship development with peers, students/personnel, clients, colleagues, and members of the interprofessional team.

This assignment focused on the implementation of a new policy into professional practice and how leadership and working with staff as a team will lead to success. Throughout the assignment I learned how to disseminate evidence, create excitement, and celebrate success. Examining the difficulties and barriers to educating on a new process encourages me to develop professionally and create ideas to overcome those barriers and implement successful policies and procedures.
The purpose of this artifact was to create an outline for the restructuring of the orientation process for the Pediatric Intensive Care unit. After intesensive research and working with members of other interprofessional teams, classroom lectures, simulations, and competency evaluations were created and implemented into an orientation process to better prepare nurses to be critical thinkers and have competency with acute care skills. I worked with members of the hospital education team to gain knowledge on what has worked in other units as well as worked with the Trauma department, Chaplain service, and Intesivist team to form a group of people who would be willing to present education, along with myself, to the new staff throughout their orienation.
