c. Coach others to improve sensitivity and acceptance of diverse individuals and groups.
Nurse educators have a key responsibility to identify those who are at risk for a lack of inclusivity and be sensitive and acceptive of their differences, in order to provide individualized education and ensure the patient/student is able to demonstrate an understanding. This presentation identifies those diverse individuals at risk and the associated barriers to education and this in turn promotes the identification and acceptance of diversity among individuals.

Throughout this process, I created a curriculum that was focused on providing unique and inclusive eductional opportuniites to students, as well as focused on how to teach nursing students the importance of providing diverse, holistic care to future patients. I utilized program objectives and outcomes to design a curriculum that teaches students to apply culturally competent care that also includes a holistic view of the patient, caring for mind, body, and spirit. The curriculum achieved these objectives by promoting a campus environment which cultivates a sense of belonging; respecting and incorporating human difference among the students; challenging students to enhance decision-making skills, be independent learners, and take responsibility for choices and actions; facilitating students and families in crisis by providing on and off-campus resources as situations arise; empowering students as leaders to become civically engaged in global community issues; creating opportunities for students to be academically successful through out-of-class experiences and student outreach; collaborating strategically with the campus community and beyond so students benefit from a seamless experience; and advocating for all students.
