g. Model self-reflection and lifelong learning.

One of the biggest observations I learned and took away from the classroom observation experience was getting to see the challenges of teaching large classrooms. I have read about the importance of creating an active learner and incorporating many learning measures to involve a diverse student body in order to incorporate all of their learning needs (Bradshaw & Lowenstein, 2014). Lecture is one of the quickest and easiest methods to present information to students, which is why it is used so frequently; however, instructors must be careful when presenting lectures to not disengage the student or create a passive learning experience. I was able to observe how resources, simple body gestures, and carefully placed breaks and humor can change the pace of the lecture to keeps students active in the learning. I observed the benefits of questioning students to engage them in the learning process and stimulate their minds to understand the information and make their own conclusions through critical reasoning. Paul & Elder (2011) state that calling on students in the classroom should be expected, non-threatening, and stimulating. I plan to create an open environment with my learners that fosters trust and respect in which students feel safe asking questions, exploring their thoughts, and further being motivated to learn.

Throughout this assignment, I evaluated different learning styles and reflected upon how I would influence the learning of students in the classroom and clinical setting throughout my future career. Because of diverse populations and learning abilities, I reflected on how I As a nursing educator will guide and encourage the students to explore and discover information on their own, enhancing self-esteem and sense of resource discovery to encourage expert growth in their future profession.
