What: As a result of the classes this semester, I learned several different methods of examining research articles and how to explore research structure using many different measurementss, such as validity, reliability, and specificity. Analysis of hypotheses and the significance in articles was also explored using measures like correlations and ANOVA's.
So What: The importance of knowing these different descriptive statistics and being able to find the aims of studies and interpret the results is crucial as a current student and future nurse educator. Health care is constantly changing and continuous reading, understanding, and implementation of strong research results into the clinical setting is important for health care to continue to advance.
Now what: The knowledge I have gained will benefit me in the future by providng me with the skills to examine evidence-based research articles for their significance and apply them in the clinical setting. Constant research will contribute to continuous learning and application of the research will be implemented. I will then spread this knowledge to future nurses through education in the classroom and clinical setting. I will strive to be a continuous learner and review the most current evidence-based research on nursing interventions to improve patient outcomes. I will work for facilities who promote supportive culture of education and research development and actively participate in the development of the research.
