What: After reflecting on the Advanced Nursing Roles and Phenomenon class and this semester, I now have more confidence and motivation to advance my career as a Nurse Educator. Throughout the last few months, I have developed skills to be an independent learner, and I developed strong reading, writing, and researching skills. I also thoroughly explored nursing theories and concepts, in addition to analysis of nursing concept articles and qualitative research studies.

So What: I have reflected on the importance of the nurse educator in the community and how I will use my strengths and experiences to fit into this role in the future. Throughout studying different nursing metalanguages, I learned the impact that the shortage of nursing and the complex healthcare needs of the community are having on the need for more nurse educators. I also was able to deeply reflect on the significance nurse educators have in preparing students for their future career in nursing.

Now what: There is a strong need for educators to be continually learning and researching and thus being a resource for educating others on high quality, up-to-date, evidence-based nursing care to promote and improve health among at-risk populations. I reflected on my current career and how my passion has influenced my growth. I am eager to share what I have learned in future experiences with students as a professional influence that will impact each person with whom I educate.
